A review of what has happened at the largest gathering of ISPs in Latin America
As we mentioned in the previous issue, last week we were in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, where we participated in Expo Andina Link 2023, the largest annual meeting of Internet providers and related industries in Latin America, which was held at the Convention Center of the Hotel Las Americas in that city.
Nearly one hundred companies from 34 countries participated and during its four days duration, it was visited by more than 3,000 people linked to the different sectors of the industry, demonstrating the importance of the Expo for the region. In fact, it has been held for 28 years and is one of the most important international telecommunications and convergent technology fairs in the region.
In this regard, one of the main conclusions reached during the presentations and workshops held during the exhibition, was that ISPs are now the major players and are taking on a dimension within the business that in many cases equals or exceeds that of cable operators.
Another important topic was regarding regulations and legal frameworks, in addition to the need for various aspects related to market flexibilization. Finally, hacking and how to combat it also occupied a central space.
On the other hand, Federico Weidemann, CEO of Meerkat Cx, exposed the need for adequate customer service, not only to preserve the consumer portfolio but also to transform them into agents that allow the business to expand. He also talked about the risks involved in the incorrect operation of the companies' call centers.
At the same time, the Ibero-American Convergence and Audiovisual Forum (FICA) was held to discuss the challenges facing the Latin American television, wireless, WISP and ISP operators.
In addition, with Meerkat in our stand (M25) we were able to present our Meerkat Cx solution and how it can be adapted to different businesses to improve customer service.
